Achieving Precision in Your Treatments: My Journey and Tips
I vividly remember the early days when I started performing intricate treatments like permanent makeup, plasma fibroblast, lipolysis, and mesotherapy. I quickly realized that a steady hand wasn’t enough—I also needed a calm, focused mind. What I didn’t know back then was how deeply the state of mind affects the hand.
If my mind was uncertain, my hand would be shaky and unstable, especially in high-stakes treatments. It wasn’t immediately clear to me why my hand wasn’t always steady in some situations, but as I grew my self-confidence and worked on both my mental and professional skills, everything started to change.
Building Confidence Through Professional and Personal Growth
I completed many specialized courses on facial and body treatments, which helped me feel confident and professionally strong. This knowledge empowered me to stand in front of clients with certainty, knowing exactly what I was doing, how to perform each treatment, and most importantly, how it would benefit them.
On a personal level, I also attended various psychological workshops that allowed me to re-examine my own values and self-worth—not just as a skin therapist, but as a person. It was important for me to recognize that I am valuable first and foremost as a human being, not just for my professional skills.
Even today, I continue to work with my psychologist weekly, and I love investing in my personal growth. It positively impacts both my private and professional life. I also never stop learning. I constantly take new courses to further improve my skills and share that knowledge with my students and clients.
The Key to Precision: Mental Stability and a Steady Hand
The development of these two crucial areas—mental stability and professional expertise—has helped me become more mentally grounded, which automatically gave me a much steadier hand during treatments.
Here are a few of my top tips, which I always share with my students, for achieving precision in your work and remaining calm, especially during treatments like plasma fibroblast or permanent makeup:
- Practice Your Technique Every Day
It’s essential to refine your hand position and technique daily. If you’re just starting, practice on a banana or artificial skin to build muscle memory. Try doing ten rows of lines—you’ll be amazed at your progress over time. When working on clients, start with smaller, less sensitive areas before moving to more delicate zones. - Strengthen Your Self-Confidence
Your confidence in your work directly influences the client’s experience. They can sense when you are calm and sure of your abilities, and they can also sense when you are nervous. This can heighten their anxiety, especially in treatments that may cause discomfort. I recommend practicing breathing techniques to maintain a calm presence. One app I love for this is Insight Timer, which has many meditations to help with focus and relaxation. - Create a Calm Environment
While performing treatments, play soothing music and eliminate distractions. A peaceful environment helps you focus and also reassures the client, making the experience smoother for both of you.
